Homelessness includes: rough sleepers, hostels, bed and breakfasts, refuges and temporary accommodation.
In the first quarter of 2010, there were around 65,000 homeless households in temporary accommodation in Great Britain. The Government's official statistics show that homelessness is on the rise.
These figures will get worse as Government cuts, particularly to Housing Benefit, begin to kick in next year.

St Agnes Place Squat was the longest running squat in London. For 30 years the 21 houses were occupied by a wide range of people from many countries and diverse walks of life. The street was also a well known Rastafarian enclave often visited by Bob Marley on his trips to London. In 2005, riot police entered the street leaving 150 people homeless overnight. By 2007 Lambeth Council finally demolished the last house. (Book underway)
