The movement which began in Canada when a policeman told a group of law students that in order to avoid sexual violence "women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized". As a reaction women decided to reclaim the word "slut".

They wanted to make it clear that the job of the police to protect the people on the street and arrest the criminals not blame the victims.
